Day 58 - Another day along the St Lawrence

The St. Lawrence
August 23
We woke to the sound of silence “ no wind “ and no fog , so we were happy !!! It was not all that cold but I put my tights on all the same as I was suspicious that the wind would pick up.
We were all felling a bit tiered from the previous days fight , me especially , I had no energy at all so I just followed along , Ed was in worse shape and we left him behind hopping he catch us at the breakfast stop. The first 56 km went by without trouble and at a good clip, we stopped in Rimouski as Janice needed a bike shop and we were ready for our breakfast stop also . The bike stop provided to be unfruitful but we did have a very good breakfast, unfortunately we did not meet up with Ed.
On the way out of Rimouski we had a misunderstanding of routes and we split up at one of the turns , Bob and Janice going straight on the Hwy and Murray and I taking the scheduled turn , we thought they saw us stop at the intersection and that they would follow if they wanted to , they actually did not see us and did not go back on route and spent the rest of the ride worried about what happened to us .
The scenic route took us through many pretty seaside villages , colourfull houses ( cottages ) and blue water as a background was very pleasing to the eye , the tourist industry is strong here , many hotels, motels and cottages for rent all along our route, little villages called St Luce, St Fabien, Metis sur Mer to mention a few all bustling with people even though it was windy and cool .
And once again we had a flat tire, this time it was Murray’s turn about three quarters  way into our day , we quickly patched it up and were on our way without further incidents.
The wind did pick up again once we left Rimouski and again right on our nose but not as hard as yesterday , the mist rolled in again and brought cool temperatures but as quickly as it appeared it left and the sun shone for the rest of the day. We were as low as 16 degrees and as high as 21 today, the warmest being at the end when we finally turned south leaving the St Lawrence behind us . Those last few km heading south were tough as they involved a series of never ending hills before arriving at camp , as they had put on the map instructions , we went “up and up and up” .
The camp here is beautiful , its on the side of a small lake nestles in some hills pine trees everywhere , and as night fell the full moon came out and the call of Loons can be heard every now and then .
Total ridden today: 137.6 - Average speed: 20.3 - Ridding time: 6.45
