Day 42 - Chi-Cheemaun day !!!

August 7
A different kind of a day , we had been told that we had to be on the ferry ( Chi-Cheemaun ) by 9 AM and we had a 36 km ride to get to it so an early rising was due, we took that a step to far and got up really early , the first alarm clocks could be heard before 5 AM !!! , mine went at 5 !!!. Most of the camp was down before light !!. Only a cold breakfast as the cooking crew and the truck wanted to make the early sailing , if they missed it they would have to wait for the next one in the afternoon. We were all on the road early and endured the chilly 9 degree temperature and we all made it with time to spare even managing a ham omelet at the local restaurant . We also had some fun on the road when Murray took the lead and sped off myself and Janice in hot pursuit , we then passed by Bob C and Tim and at the end passing them again , like I’ve said we are all kids at heart and by practice on this ride!!! Once again we saw Sandhill cranes and this time a large group of around 50 and then some flying over honking away , quite the sight to see those big birds fly !!!
The ferry ride was pleasant , the sun was shining and it finally got warm. It was great to land in Tobermory and be on the same chunk of land as Evelyn, not quite home but almost there. In Tobermory we lingered as there was no reason to get to camp early , the harbor is a bustling place full of tourists , divers , kayakers and 40 cyclist !!, we shopped , eat and drank beer and then followed it up by a very expensive coffee.
As we were on cooking duty we eventually had to head out for the 6 km ride to camp getting there with lots of time to pitch tents , shower and nice and easy get set up for cooking . We made beef burritos and re-fried beans , and rice crispies for desert, and for a change got all done early so now we can still enjoy a bit of the evening and me catch up with the blog .
Total ridden today : 42.3 - Average speed : 22.3 - Ridding time: 1.53
