August 2
Last night as I sat here typing away I heard this strange noise outside, I went to the window to see what it was and discovered it was the sound of poring rain outside my door , and then it felt so, so good to be nice and snug indoor !!!!!
This morning again I awoke to rain , we had planed to meet at 9 to go into town ( a kilometer down the road ) to the laundry mat and have some breakfast, we had been told it was only open today between 9 and 1 PM today because of the long weekend . But since it was raining we had breakfast at the motel and waited the rain out , after a long walk during witch the rain started again we found the laundry mat full of riders and took our place in line for machines , bit by bit we got it done as machines became available and by sharing them also , at one point I think there was about 20 of us there and only about 8 machines.
Having fun waiting for laundry to be done ( Bob T jumping )
On the way back Ed, Beth and I walked the others took a cab and of course we got soaked as the skies opened again , but it was all over by the time we got to the motel and we were drying quickly. Laundry put away we headed across the road for ice cream ( real good stuff !!! ), this was a very interesting nick knack store with a lot of antics around and at the front a fully grown stuffed moose , so I had to have my picture taken with it !!!. Of course once the ice cream was done a coffee was needed so off to the Tim Horton’s we went for a coffee ( and a donut of course !!!)
Wawa is a town like many up here that has been hit hard by the economic turmoils of the last few years , many stores are closed and boarded up with for sale signs on them, very sad to see.
Wawa has 3 large goose statues , this is the 2nd one , the first is on yesterdays blog
The 3rd one is on our Motel
We took it easy today no sight seeing , rest was the order of the day , so apart from laundry and eating the only other thing I have done is to put this blog up to date.
And this evening we went out to the Viking Restaurant for dinner a very unassuming place but with excellent food, since we are in prime fishing area I had the fresh pickerel char-broiled with fresh veggies and fries , a couple of pints of beer and Mud pie for desert and I must say I am stuffed !!!!
Ed poring the beer at dinner
Next two days are century rides ( 100 mile days ) and with very little services so we have to pack well ( food and water ) And probably very limited internet connections also so you will probably not see a blog entry for a few days, but after that i should be able to go back to more consistent updates. Hope you are all well and I am looking forward to being home next week for my rest day !!!!
