Today thanks to Jaques we had a great guided visit to the city of Montreal , the day started by a long ride along the river and by know I am totally confused with the rivers around here so I have no idea which river we followed today Ottawa ???, St. Lawrence ???, I am going to have to educate myself a little more on the geography of this area. This long ride took us through some very nice neighborhoods and then onto bike paths along the water edge , a very pleasant ride !! And then we were in the city , we made a few stops , a market area , Jacques-Cartier area, the cathedral of Notre-Dame and exquisite in there own way , the old city alive in the mist of the modern . And the bike paths here are everywhere and even today a week day ( I don’t know which but it is a weekday ! ) the paths were full of people cycling , walking , rollerblading , so nice to see them used to this extent. The road here are a bit rough , well no they are hellishly rough !!!! for a bicycle and we got shaken good while on them.
We were traveling in large groups today ours had a bout 10 in it , people were scattered all over the place taking side trips , we were sweeps today but nobody was on route so everyone was left to there own devices, and a lot of riders were going to be staying with friend and family tonight.
We didn’t eat as well as usual but that was because we were in a hurry to get places , I did manage to sit down for a pint in Jacques-Cartier and it cost me $10.88 !!!
We are now camped some 60 km east of the city , geography changing again as mountains have come into view along with smaller rivers.
Here are some fotos of the day that can illustrate it better then my poor writing.
