11 August
5 AM alarm clock signaled the end of my home stay , it was harder to leave this time , but at least it won’t be for as long this time. Evelyn delivered me to camp around 6.30 and we loaded all my stuff back into the truck and then after a hug and a kiss she was off to work and I slowly settled back into camp routine , breakfast , get the bike ready , etc...
Heavy fog covered our route at first , a route I knew very well , my home turf , it was fun to ride it and share it with the guys, a felling of being home was strong, Beeton, the Marsh, 5th Sideroad, Bradford , Sharon, Mount Albert , Uxbridge all so familiar, all my roads ! , my towns ! and then in the blink of an eye they were left behind and it was back to the wonder of new roads , but today that wonder was dampened with the sadness of leaving home behind .
Both Ed and I know these roads very well so we took some detours to stay on good pavement and to fine places to eat , we went north into Bradford to find a Tim Horton’s , we went off route into Mount Albert for lunch and then in Uxbridge my brother Pat and my nephew Michael met us and guided us to ice cream !!!
Happy birthday Michael !!!!!!!
The day was spent in beautiful Ontario farm country , harvest already underway ( seems early this year ) farm after farm field after field unfortunately I didn't take that many pictures as I got lost in the wonder of it . The day hot and humid with temperatures in the mid to high 30s , black clouds developed and threatened but luckily blew off.
Of note today was our stop in Sharon to see the Sharon Temple an old Quaker temple. In all the years I have lived here I never stopped and toured it , today we did and what a beautiful building it is , very nicely preserved with amazing acoustics and still occasional used to record music but no longer used buy the particular Quaker sect that built it as they no longer exist.
Now I find myself in Lake Scugog country, missing home, tomorrow I’ll return to the adventure , today I’ll savor my time at home and my time in my home area.
Total ridden today: 138.7 - Average speed: 21.5 - Ridding time: 6.26

Wow Dave, you won't believe this, but I had lunch in Mt. Albert today! Had mine around 12:30 at the Banana Bread Cafe on the main drag. Glad you had a nice visit, I didn't call because I figured you would want every second you could get with Evelyn. Have a fun safe ride and will be checking nightly for your blog.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Dave, Bob.
Keep on Smiling!
