Day 43 - Rain, thunder and lightning !!!

August 8
Didn’t sleep well last night , well none of us did , friday night partying kept us up most of the night unfortunate as it was a real nice campground. Then towards morning it started to rain witch meant sipping everything up , so the 5.30 alarm came way to early but we were on breakfast duty and up I got . Luckily the rain stopped as we made breakfast ( pancakes ) and while everyone packed up and left and then just as we were about to leave it started again.
Ed, Janice and myself did sweep duties today, by the time we got to the first restaurant we were totally soaked , a few riders were there so we pulled in and had breakfast as everyone left , then just as we were about to go the skies opened up the thunder and lightning started so back in we went and sat it out for about 20 minutes and left when seemed to be passing so we got a little wet but not much more. We turned off the main Hwy then onto nice quiet side roads that skirted Georgian Bay lots of farms could be seen and eventually we arrived in Wiarton , stopped to se Wiarton Willie the famous groundhog , we saw his house but he was nowhere to be found. so we decided to ave lunch at a dinner right by his place , coincidentally as we sat down the skies opened up again and after a very tasty turkey soup and western sandwich , oh and peach pie with ice cream the rain had stopped so off we went again towards Owen Sound and what beautiful countryside we went through !!!, with the Bay on one side and the escarpment on the other initially doted with nice farms well kept and then cottages/mansions started to appear by the waterside one nicer then the next immaculately kept a very well to do area !!!, by then the sun was out and the temperatures were in the high 20s , the wind stayed and at times was a hard headwind but then as we turned it pushed us nicely all the way to camp.
Happy to be here and I’ll sleep well tonight !!!, tomorrow I’m home !!!!
Total ridden today: 134.7 - Average speed: 21.4 - Ridding time: 6.16
