August 20
Today was a very nice rest day , the weather cooperated and we were able to go sightseeing in the “ Old Walled City “
Managed to sleep in a bit and by 8.15 went for breakfast with Ed, Murray and Mark to the cafeteria after that we met up with Janice and headed out once again hoping on the bus , this time with better knowledge as to were to get off. First stop was the bank as I was low on cash then it was a hunt for our second breakfast , we had left it a bit late and most places had stopped serving it, but we were directed to one establishment that still was serving and had a marvelous breakfast !!!.
From there a short walk into the old walled City which is the only walled city in Canada and what a gem it is , like walking into a time capsule in a way , cafes and bistros everywhere , the old buildings were alive here with the bustle of tourists , we ensnared by the wonder of it blended in as one of those tourists and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We walked all over taking pictures as we went and planing meals as usual, lunch was had at a very nice Irish pub , later pastries and coffee at a cafe . Many horse drawn carriages ambled around the city taking tourist on guided tours , Ed kept insisting we try one and eventually we all relinquished our objections and hired one ( $80.00 plus tip) and had a wonderful guided tour of the city and the Plains of Abraham pulled along by Annie .
I found Quebec City to be a very friendly city and very charming definitely a place to return on day for a longer visit.
