Today in two month I will be making my way to Vancouver on an early morning West Jet flight to start the adventure of a lifetime. Hard to believe that there is just 61 days left to go. I still remember the conception of this idea way back in the late summer of 2008, then it seemed like I had all the time in the world to get ready for it , a very long wait ahead , well now that wait is quickly coming to an end and the adventure is about to begin!!!! I’m getting excited !!! , and nervous !!! at the same time!!!!.
So now I have to get serious about finalizing all the details , I have most of what I need and a list of what I want ( just a matter of purchasing it ) But now the packing comes into play , I have to fit all that I need for my 10 weeks on the road into two laundry baskets , that is all the space we have on the truck for our stuff : bike clothing , regular clothing , toiletry , bike spare parts , computer and anything else we wish to take . The two baskets live on a shelf in the truck for the duration of the trip; the tent, sleeping bag, mattress and pillow are separate and live in a duffle bag in the isle of the truck while the truck is on the road. So yesterday I went and bought two baskets to start the process which I think will involve a lot of compromising as to what to take and what not to take, fun !!! ,humm we will see.
Meanwhile training continues , today I went for a nice leisure ride , hadn’t done that in a while , did 55 km mainly easy spinning working on cadence and stopping occasionally to enjoy the countryside, it felt good !!!. Up to now I have 881 km of training is in the bag, which leaves two months to do the other 1119, should be quite doable.
